"We're All Adults Here"

This phrase is an interesting one because it's only ever used because people aren't behaving like adults, or because we anticipate that they won't behave like adults.

So how "adult" are adults if the phrase is such a common one?

    Women are the ones who say it but women are perpetual teenagers so they say it to deny this reality.

      Women are perpetual teenagers? That accusation is usually levelled against men, so it's a bold claim!

      I do agree that it's much easier to hear that phrase in a female voice than a male voice...
