Nealon's in Capel Street was my pub of choice. I liked its laid-back atmosphere, its fireplace, the big pub mirror above the fireplace, the plaster ornamentation on its ceiling, the view of the street outside, the friendliness of the bar staff, the fact that the TV was on, but barely audible...pretty much everything. Whenever I had a choice of which pub to meet someone in, I always choise Nealon's.
And it's closing! Alas!
I was told (after years of having it as my favourtie pub) that it was a bit of a haunt for gays. I'd never noticed myself.
