If you know, send me a postcard.
Thought prompted by reading this interview of American humourist P.J. O'Rourke, by a Salon liberal.
O'Rourke is a funny guy but the idea that there is anything politically incorrect about his government-bashing libertarianism is ridiculous. You can tell from reading the interview that these two guys agree on everything really important to them. Especially in their shared horror of Donald Trump. (Whatever you might think of Donald Trump.)
Really, does anyone give a damn what anyone thinks about the extent to which government should be involved in the economy and in society? Is anyone going to get offended about your opinions on that subject, whatever they are?
One good thing about populism is that it has shown up how fake and cosmetic the supposed divide between left-wing liberalism and right-wing libertarianism was all along. How they have joined forces in our time!
