I can't remember if it was here that I read a piece once about the prevalence of English-language-usage in Sweden, which was worrying some Swedes. The irony only struck me after, but IKEA is perhaps the one conglomerate in the world that actually labels it's products in their own language, using their unique accents (in Perth-I assume everywhere?) even in their newspaper ads (in Perth-I assume everywhere?). (Their Christmas products' labels ARE a bit unsettling, they use a word which looks like it would mean something like ' winter season': rather secular, but beside the point...) We actually have a Swedish café/restaurant chain here,MISS MAÛD'S, which does the same. Whatever the truth about Sweden itself...
Yes, that was here you read that! Who else worries about such stuff? I'm glad to hear IKEA uses Swedish labels, I've never been there myself, but I like that it has a definite Swedish identity. Still, I'd rather have Irish furniture stores in Ireland.
Hi, you might have to convert the headline into the singular but I´m still around reading the blog! Since her heavenly birthdays falls on a Sunday this year we didn´t celebrate liturgically today though. One of the most popular short Catholic prayers comes from St. Birgitta (Swedish spelling) and is the one saying: "Lord, show me the Way, and make me willing to walk it". Her legacy is quite on a grand scale, and she is also one of the precious few things widely considered positive regarding Holy Mother Church here.

Well, she is definitely famous worldwide! We have a two-volume biography of her in my library.
DeleteDo u remember by what author?
DeleteSaint Bridget of Sweden / Translated from the Danish by Ingeborg Lund
DeleteJørgensen, Johannes, 1866-1956.
Aha I´ve heard about it, not read... She was a strong "independent" woman no doubt.
