I've mentioned my desire to set up a Christian writer's group before. Although I hope this to be a group where people actually get together, I thought Facebook would be a good springboard for it.
If you're on Facebook, and you want to join the group, go to this link and send a request to join. You don't have to be Irish.
Hope it works for you.
ReplyDeleteI was just reading about how Catherine McAuley encouraged her early sisters to communicate by writing in simple verse, which they got into the habit of, even if it was just about something like making a cake:
"Dear reverend Mother, our cook and your namesake
Wants to compose a most beautiful tea cake
For materials of which twill be needed to pay
And therefore for cash your petitioners pray"
Ven Catherine : "Early this morning on leaving the choir
I did anticipate this your desire
And sent out an order in time to bespeak
What I hope you will find- a very nice cake"
I suppose it's actually an easier way to communicate if you're a bit shy about asking something
Yes, I'd read that before. It's hilarious! Certainly she seems to have been no "sour faced saint". G.K. Chesterton wondered why we ordinarily communicate in prose rather than verse and I think it's a good question....admittedly, iambic pentameter would be a bit difficult if you were shouting instructions to a football team or a squadron of soldiers...
DeleteThanks for the well wishes.
