Now Is The Time for "The Burning of the Leaves"

I'm all about tradition, and it's become something of an Autumn tradition for me to blog about the wonderful Laurence Binyon poem, "The Burning of the Leaves".

I thank God for times and seasons. I can imagine a universe where such cycles did not exist. It would be much the poorer.

As I've written at considerable length on the poem before, I'll just give a link here.

Happy Autumn!

  1. When you asked for Christmas quotes recently I came across a November (Martinmas) tradition that at least one Irish family, and probably more than one, had. I can't remember whether they ate a goose that day,but the feathers had to be collected on Martinmas(usually the blankets or pillows made were eventually used as presents over the festive season). Probably a practicality also,as the nights get colder

    1. I'd never even heard the name Martinmas! I love it. I can't remember if I've ever tasted goose.
