How Certain People Respond When I Ask Them If They've Seen a Particular TV Programme

  1. Don't quite get the context, but I imagine if skip a few generations you can image a young person of unknown gender taking their eyes of their device and their gizmos out of their ears for a couple of seconds to reply curtly "I don't own a television"

    1. Well, that's sort of the point. Even twenty years ago, before streaming easily brought TV to whatever device you wish, people could watch TV series on DVDs on a computer,. And even before that, well, the fact that you didn't own a television rarely meant that you hadn't seen a whole lot of TV at some time in your life.

What amuses me is that people jump at the chance to tell me they don't own a television, even when it's not what I asked.

  2. I own a television but its roof aerial was crumpled to uselessness when the house was tented for fumigation back in '19. If I want to watch anything on it, I have to plug my computer into it.

    1. That's an interesting story! But I bet you don't take every conversational opening to let people know your TV sort of out of commission...
