Whitefriar Street Church, Aungier Street

This is the church where I got married, where I prayed for a wife (and met her days after), and before that it played a big part in my journey to faith, particularly the photo of St. Bernadette. A good place to end my trek through Dublin churches.

  1. Memories of this one... Beautiful. Even if St Titus looks more like Scott Morrison

  2. Valentine stands out as a childhood memory. Beautiful building. St Brandsma not terribly convincing though

    1. That's true! The thing is though, he even looks strangely like a waxwork in photographs.

  3. (clarification, can't get through on own phone, father's is ok, that's why there's two names.)
Although an organ behind an altar wouldn't be my choice, they seem to make it work. Even the window is free from being compromised which is often not the case

    1. I was wondering. I was confused by the fact that my friend Tomas from Sweden sometimes comments!

  4. Beautiful. This feels rather Continental, perhaps because of all the marble. What is the dedication?

Maybe one day I'll make it to Dublin...

    1. Well, it's a Carmelite church, so maybe that's why it's sort of continental. It's dedicated to Our Lady of Carmel!

Also famously has the relics of St. Valentine. (The claim seems quite solid.)

    2. Solid, and clearly reinforced by later events!
